Abstract

报告摘要: As the most luminous cosmic lighthouses, active galactic nuclei are believed to be powered by accretion of interstellar mass onto a massive black hole. Despite the success of this black hole accretion paradigm since its first clear putting forward half a century ago, fundamental questions remain unanswered: whether and how the accretion disks are supplied with external mass? The answers are essential for understanding further questions as to what sets off, maintains, and terminates the black hole activity and how long the active phase lasts for? I will talk about how to track these black hole inflows using hydrogen and helium absorption lines and the first discovery of such long-awaited inflows.
